I have seen a lot of the movies referenced and I still didn't like this film. I was so frustrated that they chose such a convoluted way to get Deadpool and Wolverine into the same movie. And, like you said, it did nothing to explain how they became friends. I think a stronger story and a cohesive plot would've made a big difference.
