I'm always thrilled when I find another person who thinks about film as much as I do. I really like your separation of favorites and greatest--those really are two different lists!

And I am 100% that person who found 2001: A Space Odyssey too slow. While watching, I couldn't understand why people enjoy it so much. It was only after, when talking through it with a friend, that I began to really appreciate the film. Though I have zero desire to ever watch it again.

But I completely agree with you about Monty Python and Back to the Future. Those were on repeat in my home throughout my childhood and are loads of fun to return to.
