This is such a great article! You hit on one of my big movie soapboxes! I tend to steer clear of rom-coms simply because the relationships are often so toxic.

One rom-com that I really enjoyed was The Big Sick. It's actually funny and the characters have to work through some really serious things together.

I recently watched Long Shot and it was also quite good. It's a really ridiculous premise, but there's a lot of good themes in it and it handles the romance in a much better way than the films you mentioned here.
